Past Union Speaks Events

Human Trafficking Simulation

In January 2016, the Socially Conscious Committee along with UGA's Breaking the Shackles and End It Movement was able to create a simulation for students so they could see Human Trafficking firsthand. Student actors created scenes to portray what millions are living each and every day. At the end of the three simulations students were asked to share their thoughts about the event and introduced to several nonprofits whose mission it is to end human trafficking.

The Union Speaks Committee provides programming that creates a dialogue for the UGA campus.  Past speakers have engaged students in issues such as, LGBTQ+ rights, domestic violence, creativity, cultural awareness, and much more!

Comedians and Musicians

Comedians and musicians have provide a unique way for students and communities to talk about engaging issues and social initiatives.  The Union Speaks Committee often finds unique artists that can communicate the ideas that are on the minds of students all over the UGA campus, including Jay Pharoah, Aidy Bryant, Ron Funches, Raury, and Family and Friends!
